José García Salgado, an accomplished octopus fisherman, founded Congelados Friperga S.L. in 1976. Our company, a strictly family-run operation, has more than 40 years’ experience in fishing, processing and freezing octopus from Isla Cristina (Huelva).
Congelados Friperga S.L. is currently composed of more than 25 workers, including fishermen, processors of octopus and other foods, and administrative staff.
Our premises cover in total more than 500 square metres. It currently consists of a freezing tunnel for processing and quick freezing of octopus immediately after the catch, while still alive, in order to preserve its quality, flavour and properties. Octopi remain frozen at -35 degrees Celsius in cold stores on our premises.
